Name: Matthew Joseph Stewart
Nicknames: Matt
Codename: The Electrician
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Matt has scruffy shoulder length blonde hair and (no pun intended) electric blue eyes. He likes to wear baggy clothes that hardly fit him, as he finds them most comfortable, and likes bright coloured clothes like blue. His most common outfit is a pair of loose denim jeans, a blue shirt and a dark blue jacket. Also, when it comes to shirts, Matt prefers the sort that have jokes or witty comments on them.
Personality: Matt doesn't like stereotypes, but considers himself most like a skater. He was quite popular at his school due to being quite a class clown, and popular with the teachers due to being smart anyway. Matt is the sort of guy who is against all the greenhouse gases, global warming stuff, and so does not want a driver's licence, instead preferring to use his board. Despite being popular, he has only ever had two girlfriends, one with whom he had a one year relationship, and the other which lasted about a week. He is very intelligent, and if he didn't have such a short attention span then he would be ten times as smart as he already is. Matt also has a nerdy side to him, and will often shut himself in his room so he can have some quiet, either to read a book or work on his designs for his power generator. He is also very good at chess, but he doesn't tell anyone that.
History: Matt was born in Wales, but his parents quickly moved to South England, meaning Matt doesn't have an accent. His father was a plumber and his mother had no job, spending her time looking after Matt, and later on, the children of the neighbours. Matt instantly made friends with the kids in his neighbourhood, and in one of them he first met Lucy. He was good friends with her for a while, but they soon grew apart, until meeting again in High School.
In High School Matt had quite the reputation, he was loved by the staff and students alike, and got good grades despite acting like a clown in classes. He was one of the most popular guys in school, and could have gotten any girl he wanted, the only problem was that there wasn't anyone in the school who he did want. He wasn't gay, there just weren't many attractive girls in his school. When his childhood friend Lucy transferred to his school, Matt found the one girl he did want and they went out for a whole year, until Lucy ended the relationship, apparently because another guy asked her out. Matt knew that wasn't the real reason, but he never found out what the real reason was.
After being dumped, Matt was quite depressed for a while, and his friends persuaded him to move on and go out with another girl named Katrina, who Matt wasn't particularly fond of, but he decided would be perfect to make Lucy feel bad about dumping him. After a week he was sick of Katrina, and broke up with her. Lucy soon left the school after she had an emotional conversation with Matt about how she wished she could be his girlfriend again, but she couldn't after 'what she had done'. Matt doesn't know what terrible thing his ex-girlfriend did, and neither did anyone else.
Finally, when he was seventeen, Matt's mutant powers emerged. He was immediately contacted by Professor Charles Xavier, and Matt flew over to Westchester for a year, staying at the Institute until he finished his education. However, Matt soon became fascinated by the X-Men, and when he heard about the England branch being set up, he decided to join. That way he could be in the X-Men, but also closer to home. He still has dreams about being a scientist or an inventor, but for now he's content to stay with the X-Team.
Powers: Matt has electrokinesis, the ability to absorb and redirect electricity by channelling it around his body and firing it from two small holes on his wrists (similar position to Spider-man's webshooters) which reseal themselves when the current has stopped. He has the potential to create electromagnetic fields etc. But since he has only recently discovered his powers, they are fairly limited. Professor Xavier also believes that Matt's powers may have been active most of his life, and his intelligence is a side effect of his powers. (If I remember right, the brain works with electric impulses and stuff. So Matt's powers could affect his intelligence. Or something. I'm not really sure.)
Power related weaknesses: Matt's blood is replaced with electricity, meaning he cannot take on or lose too much of it, so he must be careful when using it. To counter this he carries various devices to drain power from, such as MP3s, iPods, phones and handheld game consoles. But usually he gets his power from a modified, hand powered dynamo. It is about the size of a small television, so he keeps it in his room, he can't carry it with him.
Fighting style: Matt is currently being trained to fight by the X-Team (And he isn't allowed to go on missions and stuff until he completes his training) but his powers mean that he can usually end a fight in a few seconds. One bolt of electricity and his opponent would usually be stunned.
Anything else: As mentioned in his personality, Matt is smart without trying to be, and multi-talented to boot. Matt is an accomplished skater and surfer. He also plays the guitar (very well) the bass (not quite as well as the guitar) and the drums (he can't actually play the drums, but often claims he can, before trying to do so and showing that he is in fact merely capable of thrashing his arms about and making a load of noise) he believes he can sing too, but many people disagree. He made his skateboard himself, and the underside is painted with blue lightning patterns, which is very detailed, as Matt is quite a good artist. Also, to go with his 'green' personality, he is annoyed by the fact that he must keep draining power in order to (pretty much) stay alive, and is trying to develop a power generator that he can carry with him at all times. For now, however, he must make do with his dynamo.
