Though she may seem incredibly naive, Catharine can see through people. She can tell when someone can't be trusted or is being untruthful with her.
History: Catharine was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Her parents, unable to have children of their own, adopted her when she was just two months old. Catharine's parents were devout Catholics and preferred to home-school their daughter rather than have her attend public school. They felt they could teach her better than the schools could.
Catharine's powers kicked in at an early age. Only she didn't discover she was a mutant until she was well into her teens when a shady man showed up at her house. He claimed to run a school for mutants and tried to convince her to join. This shady man actually worked for the Organization and had been watching Catharine for quite some time.
Catharine and her parents were very unsettled by this strange man and said they weren't interested. The man just gave Catharine a card and told her if she changed her mind she could call the number on the card. Then he left. Catharine ended up throwing away the card. Several months later, Professor Xavier contacted the family. The Smallwoods were a little wary of Xavier but Catharine trusted him. So they listened to him. He told them about the new branch he'd opened up in England. Catharine decided to go.
Powers: Catharine has the ability to detect other mutants.
Power related weaknesses: There has to be a mutant close by in order for her to pick up on it.
